Pokemon Trading Card Game (or Pokemon Trading Card Game) is a trading card game inspired by the Pokemon video game series, first introduced in Japan in October 1996, and later in North America in December 1998.
The game was produced by Wizards of the Coast, the same company that produces Magic: the Gathering. Although Wizards of the Coast lost their publishing license in July 2003, the cards continued to be produced directly by Nintendo and Pokémon USA Inc. (PUI for short). Nintendo also takes care of managing the tournaments, organizing them in Italy and in the rest of the world.
The aim of the game is to defeat the opponent's Pokemon, as happens in the battles featured in the video game and in the animated series
